Louvigny (French pronunciation: [luviɲi] ^ⓘ) is a commune in the Calvados department in the Normandy region in northwestern France.

History

During World War II on July 18, 1944, as part of Operation Atlantic, the Royal Regiment of Canada, supported by the 10th Armoured Regiment, engaged German forces in the area. After intense combat, the Canadians secured Louvigny by July 19, 1944, which would be known as the Battle of Normandy
